Welcome to ExiMerge ExiMerge
ExiMerge is a simple way to maintain the EXIF metadata contained in digital image files.  Many image editors remove, destroy, or otherwise mangle the EXIF metadata contained in image files when you save the edited image. ExiMerge gives you a simple way to restore the EXIF data after you use image editing software.

ExiMerge does not just replace the EXIF information in a modified/edited image file with a backup copy.  Instead, it carefully merges the backup EXIF information with the updated information, so that you get the best of both. Updated thumbnail images inserted by the editor are preserved, as well as selected EXIF data tags.

To obtain the maximum benefit, CDLPro should be used in conjunction with ExiMerge. When you use CDLPro to download your digital images from your camera, memory card, or portable storage device, CDLPro can automatically create backup EXIF files while it is downloading your images.

ExiMerge may also be used to merge EXIF information from an original copy of the edited image file.

Backup image files should be maintained in a separate folder (or a subfolder) from the image directory. ExiMerge requires that the edited image file begin with the root name of the original or backup file.   For instance, if the original image was "xyz.jpg", or if the backup EXIF file is "xyz.exi", the the edited image filename must begin with "xyz".  Names like "xyz-1.jpg", or "xyz-foo.jpg" will be associated by ExiMerge with the original image or EXIF backup.
